These terms govern your use of Aniwal. By creating an account or using the platform you agree to be bound by them.
Beta notice
Aniwal is currently in beta: features may change, be incomplete or be temporarily unavailable while the platform is being improved. Profiles marked as test accounts — including the "Aniwal" provider and carer profiles — are operated by us to test and demonstrate the platform and are not real service offerings.
1. Who can use Aniwal
You must be at least 18 years old to register an account. Provider accounts must be operated by the legal entity offering the services.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for everything that happens under your account. Notify us at hello@aniwal.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Bookings and online consultations
Aniwal connects pet owners with independent providers and supplies the technical means for booking requests and online video consultations. Aniwal is not itself a provider of veterinary or pet-care services. The contract for the actual service — including a video consultation — is between the owner and the provider; Aniwal is not a party to it. Providers are solely responsible for the professional service given and for complying with the laws and professional rules that apply to their activity — including, for veterinarians practising in Portugal, the rules of the Ordem dos Médicos Veterinários on when and how a consultation may be carried out remotely. Whether an online consultation is appropriate for a given case is always the professional's decision. Cancellations follow each provider's stated policy.
4. AI features
The AI Companion provides general information and triage guidance grounded in your pet's record. It is not a veterinarian, does not provide diagnosis, and its answers may contain mistakes — always confirm important decisions with a professional. If your pet may be in danger, contact a veterinarian or an emergency clinic immediately instead of relying on the Companion. When the AI detects a health event — in your Companion chats or your uploaded documents — the entry is recorded in your pet's record automatically; you can edit or delete any entry on the timeline at any time.
Consultation transcription
During a consultation — online or in person — the professional may, after informing you, use Aniwal's dictation feature to transcribe the conversation into the pet's record. Speech-to-text runs through the browser's built-in engine: depending on the device, the audio may be processed on the device itself or sent to the browser vendor's speech service (for example Apple, Google or Microsoft) and handled under that vendor's privacy terms. Aniwal never receives or stores audio — only the resulting text, which the professional reviews before anything is saved to the record. Where the browser supports it, Aniwal requests on-device processing so the audio does not leave the device.
5. Outcome data and aggregate research
After a consultation or urgent referral, Aniwal asks what happened, and — when the treating vet records it — stores their outcome entry (diagnosis category, treatment type, resolved or ongoing) in the pet's record. Stripped of anything identifying the owner, the pet or the vet, outcome and health-record data feeds anonymized aggregate research that improves triage accuracy for everyone on the platform. Owners and providers can each opt out of contributing on their profile page while keeping full use of Aniwal. In aggregate analytics, provider outcomes are pooled and anonymized — we do not build or publish performance metrics about an identifiable vet or clinic unless that vet has separately agreed in writing. The Privacy Policy describes the data handling in detail.
6. Content
Providers upload profile information, photos and prices. Owners can submit reviews tied to real bookings. You retain the rights to what you upload, and you grant Aniwal a non-exclusive licence to display it on the platform.
7. Fees
Aniwal is free for pet owners — the health record, the Companion and reminders have no charge. Where a provider charges for a consultation, you currently pay the provider directly under their own terms. Paid provider features will be announced before they apply.
8. Acceptable use
- Do not submit fake reviews or impersonate other providers.
- Do not use Aniwal to advertise unrelated services or spam users.
- Do not attempt to bypass rate limits or extract data without permission.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aniwal is not liable for the quality of services provided by listed professionals or for indirect damages arising from use of the platform.
10. Termination
You can close your account at any time by emailing privacy@aniwal.com — see the Privacy Policy for how deletion works. We can suspend accounts that violate these terms after a reasonable warning, except in clear cases of abuse.
11. Changes
We may update these terms when the platform evolves. Material changes are announced at least 14 days in advance via email and a banner on the site.
